What's this about?
Peoria Unified School District is asking voters to approve Prop 428 and continue the current budget override to help support student programs.
A budget override was turned down by voters last year. So, this school year, approximately $11 million has been cut from the PUSD budget.
If Prop 428 fails, more cuts will be made.

Continuing the current override will maintain and increase district-wide student services.

- Maintain full-day kindergarten and other specialized programs (such as enhanced reading and gifted)
- Provide special area instruction (such as art, music, band, chorus, languages, physical education, etc.)
- Keep class sizes manageable
- Fund a portion of all staff salaries
- Continue Nurses – Health Services
- Sustain athletics and extracurricular activities
- Allocate funding for assistant principals

Established in 1889, Peoria Unified School District began with a single classroom operating in an abandoned grocery store, serving a small number of students.
It has grown into one of the largest districts in Arizona, encompassing parts of Peoria, Glendale, and unincorporated Maricopa County, with nearly 40,000 students.
